Lucky Lady

Who is the luckiest woman in the world?

The woman born to incredible riches, who never has to work a day in her life and will never know the worries that come from trying to pay bills and help support a family?  No, not her.

The famous actress with the big movie career, who has an Oscar on her shelf and adoring fans fawning over her everywhere she goes?  Nope, not her.

The CEO who has made it to the top of the ladder, and now wields incredible power making important business decisions every day? Not a chance!

The woman who walked into a convenience store, and with a dollar she found on the sidewalk bought a winning lottery ticket?  No, not her either.

The luckiest woman in the world is the person who realized late in life what an incredible joy children are.  That copious messes, ear-piercing shrieks, sleepless nights and general chaos are badges of honor to be worn with pride.  That waking up to a bear-hug from a little boy is better than breakfast in bed served in a 5-star hotel in Monaco.  That a smile from your child can instantly convert a day from being unbearably miserable to super-fantabulous.

I am undeniably sleep-deprived, stumbling over toys and shoes (and pets!) each morning as I try and get ready, covering myself with a towel to try and minimize the amount of bodily fluids on my clothes when I get to work, wondering what pandemonium the day will bring.  But in spite of these things (or perhaps because of them!) I know without a doubt: I'm the luckiest woman in the world!
