Ding-Dong!

Colin recently decided that every time he walks in the front door he needs to ring the doorbell.  He waits for me to open the storm door, steps up onto the threshold, grasps the door frame in his left hand, and then stretches his right hand up with his index finger extended to ring the doorbell.

This wouldn't be so amusing except every time he does it he says, "I'm gonna make Sydney bark!"

And poor Sydney, of course, complies.  Colin rings the doorbell, and the dog (doing her job as protector of the house) begins to bark wildly.  Which amuses Colin to no end and only reinforces his behavior.

I'd feel bad for Syd, but she gets her revenge by frantically licking Colin in the face as soon as I open the front door.  Colin flails at her, trying ineffectively to guard his face from her, telling her "Cut it out, Sydney! Too much!" and eventually gives up and runs for higher ground (the couch) or half hides between the chair and the back door so she can't reach him.

Needless to say, entering the house has become a daily adventure!
I can only imagine how the dynamic will change once Ryan gets into the act... sorry Syd!
