WHEEEE-AAAAUUUUGGGHHH!

Yesterday at the playground Colin was playing nicely.  He went on the swings. He ran around and picked up mulch.  He crawled through the tube and peeked out through the little portholes.  He climbed up onto the playground equipment.  He knocked on the bubble-window saying "nah-nah."

Then, with lightning quickness... before I could stop him (and I was right there) Colin literally lunged and dove head-first down the slide.

   Colin: WHEEEE!
Me (arms outstretched, seeing it all in slow-mo): AAAAUUUUGGGHHH!

Thankfully it is a little-kid playground, so the slide is relatively short and he didn't pick up too much speed.  Despite my horrific vision of Colin flying off the end of the slide and shooting head-first into the metal garbage can, everything was fine.  He magically slowed down and came to a gradual stop right at the bottom of the slide.  Colin then popped up on all fours, turned around and safely backed down off the slide.  No problem, Mom.  Why are your eyes popping out of your head?

In a way I'm happy that he can go down the slide himself, but did he HAVE to dive head first?  Really???  The only saving grace is that H wasn't there... he would probably have had a full-blown coronary if he'd seen it.
