We're in Trouble!

I know all parents think their kids are the greatest, brightest, best most wonderful little humans to ever hit the surface of the planet.  And I'm no exception - my boys are great.  Wonderful.  Amazing.  The most spectacular kids ever.  Right?  RIGHT!

OK, maternal insanity aside, I do think my little guys are going to be a handful.  Why?  Well, here's what they're up to:

Yesterday I got a call from the school.  Colin woke up from his nap and started running around (typical boy).  I don't know if he wasn't looking where he was going (typical Colin) or if the other student was also running, but the bottom line is that Colin and another child clunked heads.  Colin pretty much bounced off and wanted to continue playing, pushing away the offer of an ice pack, while the other child apparently sobbed hysterically.  When we got home there was no mark on his head, and aside from a mild complaint about his head hurting he was/is fine.  (Keep in mind that while Colin has grown he is still extremely slim - not a bulky little kid by any standards, and is the youngest in his class.)  I saw the other child this morning... her cheekbone is all swollen, she has a big black eye... the kid looks a little like Rocky at the end of the movie.  Yikes!

Ryan isn't far behind his big brother.  His note from school yesterday was "Ryan had fun bringing toys to all his friends today. He will shove the toy at them and wait for them to take it.  He doesn't take no for an answer either!  It is very funny!"  I got the details this morning... apparently Ryan will shove toys at his friends (born salesman?) but if he sees something he wants he will make a beeline for it.  Literally crawling over anything and anyone in his way.  If Mitchell is between Ryan and a toy, Ryan just goes right over him... while Mitchell apparently lays there sobbing.  (FYI: Mitchell and Ryan were born 5 days apart, but Mitch is bigger than Ryan, and is nearly walking.)

Last night while I was at the gym Colin was watching a movie (current favorite: Puss In Boots) and his father told him to put his milk back in the fridge.  Colin nonchalantly picked up the Blu-Ray remote, pressed the pause button, put his milk away, then used the remote to resume his movie.  He's never done this before, but from what Hari told me Colin did it as if he'd done it 1,000 times before.  Utterly without hesitation.

Ryan likes the Blu-Ray as well.  He will crawl straight over to it, stand up, press the "open" button, and then watches the tray open.

And I'm thinking of renaming Ryan "Froggy."  He loves to stand, but if you take him by both hands he doesn't do the usual and try to take a little step or two.  Instead he jumps up and down.  Literally.  Jumping up off the floor!  It is ridiculous to look at, but I think it probably takes a pretty high level of strength/coordination too.

These boys are a handful already (in the best way, of course) and I expect things to only get crazier.  So, as I said, we're in trouble!
