Early Onset...

Apparently it happens young.  Very young.

Months ago (I can't even recall how far back) Colin quickly identified that when he passes gas we call it "tooting" and it is a great source of amusement for him.  If he "toots" he gets a big grin on his face, and he'll call himself out.  "Colin tooted."  He'll also announce if someone else toots, so don't even think about doing anything within earshot of him or he'll make sure everyone knows it was you.  (Unless you're his daddy - he gets a pass.  Any time daddy toots Colin blames it on poor Ryan, saying "the baby tooted!" as if he didn't know darned well that it was his father!)

We recently progressed to the next level.  He now will toot, grin, say "Colin tooted," then proceed to intentionally toot.  Over, and over, and over again.  Which clearly amuses him to no end.  Once after a bath he was standing in the bathroom, stark naked, and coughed.  The cough forced out an accidental toot, and he was so pleased with himself he then coughed over and over, on purpose, just to hear himself toot again.  He did this until I stopped him as he was turning a bad shade of reddish-purple from forcing himself to cough.

I guess this was to be expected - he is a boy, after all.  I just thought it would take a little longer for him to reach the "tooting for entertainment" stage.  In retrospect that seems pretty foolish... or perhaps it was just wishful thinking!
